Hi, I’m Cinthia Nagel Lopez — an interior designer based in San Diego with a heart for storytelling through space, and the founder of Nagel Interiors.

Design wasn’t always part of the plan. For most of my life, I thought I’d become a doctor — drawn to science, the human body, and the way we function in the world. But somewhere along the way, I realized something powerful: our environments impact our well-being just as deeply. That’s when I discovered interior design — and I’ve never looked back.

After earning my BFA in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego and gaining early experience working within established design studios, I made the decision to take a leap and start something of my own. The experience I gained in those early roles helped shape not only my skills but also my vision for the kind of designer — and collaborator — I wanted to be. I knew I wanted to lead with integrity, empathy, and a deep respect for the people I work with.

That’s when Nagel Interiors came to life — a name with a story of its own. Nagel is my middle name, created by my mom as a blend of personal history and creativity. Inspired by my dad’s middle name, Angel, she swapped the “A” for an “N” — and Nagel was born. To me, it represents imagination, intention, and the beauty that can come from thoughtful, unexpected combinations — just like great design.

Working with me is a collaborative process. I take time to really listen — to your needs, your goals, and the story behind your space. Whether you’re designing a home, a hospitality project, or a single room, I guide the process with care, curiosity, and creativity. I believe design is about more than making things beautiful — it’s about creating spaces that feel personal, functional, and genuinely life-enhancing.
